About us

MC Painters is an established painting and decorating company specialising in residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Hi, I’m Mike. I’ve been in the painting and decorating industry since 2004, having worked for a variety of firms at the start of my career. I became a sole trader back in 2016 after deciding that in order to do things to the standard I’m happy with, I’d have to go out on my own.

Now, I’m proud to say I’ve been able to build a team of like-minded and hardworking people working to complete our jobs to this standard. If you’re interested in acquiring any of our painting and decorating services, get in touch with our team today and let us help you out.

John

John is Warrick’s son (keeping it in the family!). He’s been painting for 3-4 years, having come on board in 2022 - he’s been a great support to the team. John’s favourite biscuit is a shortbread.
Lee from MC Painters

Lee is the newest member of the team joining in 2024. He’s been a painter and decorator for 23 years. He’s settled in great and is a fantastic addition to the team. His favourite biscuit is a Chocolate digestive.

Hints and tips

My best advice before painting is it’s all in the preparation, it’s so important to achieving a high quality, professional finish.

Surface preparation is key.

All surfaces must be cleaned, scraped, sanded, loose paint removed and filled before you even think about picking up a paintbrush!

A bricklayer starts at the bottom a painter starts at the top. I’d recommend starting with the ceiling first, apply 2 coats to this. Next during the drying times apply the first coat of paint to the woodwork (you’re going to want to overlap onto the walls by around 1 inch). The next stage would be to apply 2 coats of paint to your walls, cutting in neatly to the ceiling and woodwork. Finally, you’ll finish by applying your final coat to the woodwork.

For colour consistency and to reduce ‘flashing’ it’s recommended in tinted products you should always decant the full tin of paint, where more than 1 tin is required they should be all be mixed together to maintain true colour and avoid flashing.
